Severe winter weather and dangerous temperatures are expected to start Monday, January 8th, and continue for nine days.  Please be careful and plan for driving and home emergencies, including power outages.   Take the time to check on the more vulnerable in your neighborhood. Be sure they are prepared with food and heat if power should fail.

National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Mid-Missouri, effective from 3 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday night. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches are forecast, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

Lighter snowfall is predicted in areas southeast of U.S. 54 into southeast Missouri. However, in northern Missouri, snowfall is forecast to be heavier. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect along and north of U.S. 36, where four to six inches of snow is expected Monday afternoon and Tuesday.

The NWS urges motorists to plan for slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
